Reza Mehdizadeh, stage shows jury member on Fadjr 2025 and promising talents

Reza Mehdizadeh is one of the jury members of the stage section. He considers the works of this edition to be diverse with different tastes and concerns from different regions of Iran.

Reza Mehdizadeh is a set designer and university lecturer.  The stage section jury of Fadjr 43 Competition include members: Azita Hajian, Shahram Gilabadi, Mehrdad Rayani-Makhosse, Reza Mehdizadeh, and Hedayat Amel Hashemi

He describes the quality of the works he watched in the Iranian Theater Competition section as a great variety of performances.

And he went on to say: Some of the works were creative in their use of dramatic elements and deep themes, but a number of works also suffered from weaknesses in the play or performance. However, the efforts of young artists and promising talents are a positive sign that promises a brighter future for Iranian theater. The set design and use of technology in some works were also distinctive and attractive.

He affirmed the positive impact of the Fadjr International Theater Festival on the country's theater production process: By providing artists with an opportunity to showcase their work, the Fajr Theater Festival can help discover and promote new talents. During these days of the festival, artists can become familiar with new ideas and artistic trends and enrich their experiences, which in turn can help expand various theatrical forms, from stage plays to street theater. The festival is an opportunity to make theater more accessible to the general public and to increase its audience. Even the development of the theater industry and cultural tourism, which has received more serious attention in recent years, if revived, will be more favorable for artists in this field and for international cultural exchanges.

He believes that the festival provides an opportunity for artists to meet other colleagues from across the country and even from other countries and to create new friendships. These connections can pave the way for new collaborations and the exchange of ideas.

The festival jury concluded that the Iranian Theater Festival is not only a key cultural event, but also a platform for strengthening artistic ties and improving the quality of theatrical productions in the country.

The winners will be announced on Saturday, February 1st at the Closing Ceremony.
