The message by the ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to Fajr Theater Festival

By Ali Janati...

The international Fajr theater festival, on the threshold of the 35th anniversary of the glorious Islamic glorious revolution, is a medium for the intellectuals and scholars to create elegantly brilliant works through safeguarding Iran’s committed and valuable heritage of theater, establishing a fresh culture, and also relying on artistic and literary capacities of the Iranian soil. Doubtlessly, the so-called Government of Wisdom and Hope is after providing a better situation for art’s growth and development, as the most fundamental factor in flourishing human character and social evolution. In this realm theater enjoys a particular position since the art of theater is a group experience; hence its effect has a wide frequency among the society. What is presented in drama as life style lands directly in the community and what the theater audience has seen and liked about the theater character enters his personal life. Moreover, drama, like any other social activity, appears based on the existing social background. The most significant social background in a developing and dynamic community is the need to criticize its own contradiction and perversity. Therefore as theater in the body of a knowledge spreading art, by the aid of the artist’s creative mind, takes the form of an elegant play with an aesthetic point of view, it is also capable of unveiling the irregularities and as a result removing the filth as a powerful refiner. Hence it is not irrelative to consider theater a torch in the hand of the sage who fights against the dark through the genuine path of his society. Such a function roots in our ancient lands’ dramatic rituals and rites. For instance Ta`aziye , that dramatizes supreme concepts, manifests the sacred struggle between good and evil and endorses the truth of the light against the darkness. There is no doubt that today’s creative and intellectual theater artists also reflect Islamic Iran’s rich culture and art by creating meaningful works of high quality and applying the powerful weapon of theater, protect the society from unrighteousness.
We are praying to the Almighty God for being able to accompany the artists through this path
