Alfred Jarry’ writings are considered to be among the very first dramatic works of Absurd Theatre. “Ubu King” is the most famous one. The first draft, which has been performed by Jarry himself in 1888, in his school attic, tells a story of a school boy who becomes a laughing-stock. The play centers round the naïve manner of King Ubu representing the bourgeoisie class of France society. Maladype performance is a mixture of buffoonery and fantasy which is being displayed creatively and energetically.
Zoltan Balazs was born in 1977 in Romania. He graduated as an actor and director from the University of Drama, Film and Television Arts, Budapest. He participated in several foreign workshops such as in Vasilyev and Jozsef Nagy’s workshop in Avignon. Since 2001, he has been as the artistic director of Maladype Theatre.
