A report about Iranian Theater Market

The form of holding the theater market is the best fair way

Shayda Salamian: The 2nd Iranian theater market is holding during the 29th Fadjr festival (from February 5 to 24) in Tehran with some substantive changes. At first it was announced that this market’s goals are upgrading the quality levels, increasing the efficiency and expressing a clear picture of Iran’s theater.

But this year, we have no fixed stalls for the groups and we will have 10 groups performing according to schedule instead. These groups have 20 minutes opportunity to introduce their performing styles.
Artists have different assessments about these changes. Behrouz Gharibpour as the first critic believes that some of these changes are wrong and quests can be introduced to Iranian artist by watching their play on DVDs too. He said:” If the form of holding Iranian theater market changes, I won’t take part in it.”
In the other side, Sirous Hemati believes this is an ideal event which gives artist an opportunity to express themselves directly. He thinks this form of holding the theater market is the best fair way and he will take part in it confidently.
Masoud Mousavi thinks that these changes are wrong too and he prefers not to take part in it. He said:” last year we had a week time and each group had a certain translator. This year a week decreased to 20 minutes and it’s not enough”.
Some others believe that the time is not important and the quality of the works can make attraction. Last year some artists for example Zahra Sabri, Siamak Ehsaiee ,Sohrab Salimi and Ali Asghar Dashti pointed to some of the problems such as lack of facilities and Inappropriate place in stalls in their interviews.
