The view of Iranian theatre

Seyed javad Roshan: In fact, to be presented at the Festival, was the most important chance the plays get for the public performance. There have been always pros and cons for this system. The people who were against this kind of presentation stated that participating in the Fajr film festival should not be the only criterion for the plays. They complained that a group should under gone months of rehearsals only to get two performances at the festival, not to mention the little amount of financial support they get from the committee. Then when the festival ends, after a gap of few months, the group should restart all the rehearsals before the public performances. Sometime at this time the group have been obliged to change the actors (due to the special circumstances), which would force new financial and mental stresses to the group. Some other people were against the competitive nature of the festivals, because of that, over the years we had seen some competitive festivals as well as non competitive ones. There were years that the plays were picked from the ones that had already had public performances over the previous year, which had some opponents who have stated that this way, the festival will lose its interesting atmosphere. The experiences gained from previous years and considering the pros and cons of each system, had lead to this newly managed festival which had been started for a few years. In current system, Fajr theatre festival is a place for competition (International part), a review of the last year's plays (review), new experiences and public performances (scenery). In this way, all different tastes and ideas had been considered and respected. One of the most interesting parts of this festival is the Scenery. In this part audiences have a chance to get a glance of what’s going to happen over the next theatrical year, the group also would grap the opportunity to get to the public performance for the next year. In order not to waste the energy of the groups, at the first acceptance announcement the highest number of names had been announce, then over the next reviews, some plays has been omitted. In the end one out of three plays had the opportunity to be presented at the festival.
After Review, the grand jury of selection of Fajr theater festival had closed 17 regional plays and 32 plays from Tehran. Some of those plays couldn't make it on time, or decided to leave the festival due to personal reasons. 
In the end, these 20 plays have been selected by selection jury (Iraj Raad, Saeed Keshan Fallah, Farshid Ebrahimian, Sadegh Musavi and Mohammd Heydari):

On a brief review of the plays, we could see a strong mixture of young and experienced directors of theater which give the audiences an interesting variety of tastes.
