Conversation with dramatist "Hossein Pakdel"
Competition in art leads it to efflorescence

Hossein Pakdel said: I do believe in holding festivals in a competing way, Not only in parts like performance, playwriting, directing, scene designing but also in other parts like photograph, light, dance, voice, criticism, research and etc.
Encouraging affection is the most important thing about a festival award. but I don’t recommend to compare our artists with artists from other countries, cause it is not comparable. I also believe that we don't have to have professional groups in competition parts. Competition in art leads it to efflorescence but its encouraging affection is more important. New, young and experimental Theatre groups which have applied for attending different parts of festival need to be compared. Dividing awards to grades one, two… or having two or more candidates for one award will stroke the competition result. It has to be simple and we don't have to complicate it. Sometimes it is urgent to grant a kind of artistic credit to those who win an award in festival instead of paying cash money as their prize.
About the relationship between Theatre of Iran and other countries, he said: it seems it is in its lowest level right now. Anyway, Arts, spatially dramatic arts are directly influenced by other events in society. These lockouts has effected on Theatre.
About the selecting process in Fadjr Festival Pakdel said: some people apply, submit texts, some read those submitted texts and they'll chose best ones to be prepared by the groups for being performed, then performances will be seen by a professional group and will be judged once again. I think it is a good process right now but it doesn't mean there is no other ways which can be better than it.
