“I have discussed the psychological damage of war”: Mohammad Esmaeel-Beygi on "Behind the Door"

Iran Theater- Mohammad Esmaeel- Beygi, the director of "Behind the Door", considered this show to be a work that deals with mental health consequences of war.
Inspired by Wolfgang Borchert’s play, "Behind the Door" directed by Mohammad Esmaeel- Beygi from Khorasan Razavi, is one of the 12 Iranian theater reviews in the stage competition section of the 42nd Fadjr International Theater Festival.
Wolfgang Borchert was a German author and playwright whose work was strongly influenced by his experience and his service in the Wehrmacht during the Second World War.
Mohammad Esmaeel-beygi said about the theme and story of his show: "Wolfgang Borchert in his anti-war play shows us that military war not only has visible injuries but also has mental and psychological damages."
He pointed out that considering the turmoil in the world today and the conflicts going on in Iran's neighboring countries, he decided to do this play.
He’s added two characters to Wolfgang Borchert's play, he explained about the performance method: "Although we have been influenced by the school of expressionism more than anything else, wherever I needed, I also use other method. "
